About Karen
Karen Brook has spent over two decades working with youth from all walks of life, driven by a deep passion to equip young people with the tools they need for emotional, relational, and mental well-being. Through her work with nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and community initiatives, Karen has partnered with law enforcement, social workers, educators, and local leaders to strengthen and protect today’s youth.
She is the founder and CEO of Forward to Freedom LLC, an organization dedicated to resourcing youth by equipping and empowering them to build safe, healthy relationships and make informed decisions for their future.
Karen’s passion for prevention was shaped by years spent walking alongside women who experienced intense trauma—including those serving or having served life sentences—many of whom shared they wished they had learned how to recognize red flags and build safe relationships earlier in life. She has also worked with survivors of sexual violence and is committed to raising awareness around predatory behavior, abuse, and exploitation before it begins.
With a Bachelor’s in Human Development Psychology from Vanguard University and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership and Learning from Pepperdine University, Karen brings both academic and real-world insight to her work. She is an advocate, educator, and mentor—dedicated to helping the next generation build healthier, safer lives.
When she’s not writing, speaking, or creating resources for young people, Karen is a proud (and often very tired) mom of two young daughters. She’s happily married to Steve, and finds joy in music, being outdoors, and sharing great food—whenever time allows.
